Situated as an anchor to Downtown Gretna main thoroughfare, the historic Primary School has sat vacant for over twenty years. Formwork leads the redevelopment of this important civic
building into a mixed use center including office, co-working, neighborhood serving retail and the German American Cultural Center. A dramatic double-height auditorium space will be repurposed as the social heart of the building - featuring meeting areas, a lounge, a shared kitchen and performance areas. Elsewhere, the school’s classrooms and corridors are reconfigured into a mix of private offices and shared workspaces. The project will utilize historic tax credits and construction will commence in early 2024.
